Mateusz Pitala is an artist, baker and designer based in Trondheim, Norway. In 2020 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow with MA title. Through his practice Pitala explores the history of bread, its forgotten traditions, and the revival of ancient grains. He uses various mediums such as bread dough, sourdough microorganism, sculpture, design and drawing. His daily bread baking practice connects him to his ancestors, preserving traditional rituals, and highlighting the cultural significance and healing aspects of bread.
