Are Lothe Kolbeinsen is a musician, composer, and sound artist from Trondheim. He explores musical expressions at the intersection of composition and improvisation, between the acoustic and the electronic, and between a traditional tonal language and more abstract sound. His expression is one in which the guitar and other instruments work together in a musical fabric where all sounds and roles are fundamentally equal and constantly in flux. Inspired by electroacoustic music, he seeks a guitar expression that seamlessly moves between an acoustic and an electronic sound world, where the ideal is for the acoustic and electronic sounds to “merge together.”
