FAQ

How do I get a studio at RKK?

RKK operates with a waiting list. When a studio becomes available, the person at the top of the list is contacted and offered a private viewing—provided they meet the criteria described in the attachment and that the price/size is suitable.

The application and viewing process requires significant administrative work, and we have limited administrative resources. We therefore ask applicants to read the attachment carefully and ensure they qualify before joining the waiting list or accepting a viewing. Please also read the section on what it means to be a “professional artist.”

What does it mean to be a “professional artist”?

The criteria follow the requirements of the funding scheme that makes RKK’s operations possible. Studios are allocated to artists who are active in their field, which usually includes:
  • relevant higher education in the arts
  • primary professional activity within creative/performing arts

Detailed requirements are described in the attachment.

I meet the requirements and would like to join the waiting list. What do I do?

If you meet the requirements to become a tenant, you can send an email to rotvollkunst@gmail.com to apply for a place on the waiting list.

Do you have an open call?

Yes, but only if a studio does not suit anyone on the waiting list. In such cases, it will be announced on our Facebook page.

I’ve been on the waiting list for a long time without getting a studio—do you have any advice?

Our best advice is to get in touch with some of the artists currently working in the building—perhaps by attending one of our events or contacting someone you already know. Artists come and go, and some are away for longer periods. Opportunities may arise to share a studio with someone already based at RKK. See the Artists page to find out who currently works here. You might discover your next collaborator.

How much does a studio cost?

What is Kunstfest Rotvoll?

Kunstfest is RKK’s own one-day festival, created by and for the artists in the collective. The festival showcases the artistic activity within the collective. Some years, we also open for an external open call.
