Gyrid Nordal Kaldestad is a composer and performer from the island of Stord in Sunnhordland. She has a background in improvisation and electroacoustic music, and works with voice/singing, live electronics, field recordings, and text writing for use in compositions, sound walks, and installations. As a composer, she frequently engages in interdisciplinary collaborations and in recent years has worked with sound artist Evelina Dembacke, choreographer and dancer Siri Jøntvedt, director Saila Hyttinen, video artist Espen Tversland, film director Darko Dragicevic, choreographer Anna Nordanstedt, set designer Mio Oribe Stuberg, author Marte Huke, architect and artist Trygve Ohren, architect Steffen Wellinger, musicians and composers Are Lothe Kolbeinsen and Anne Hytta, TheHub (Klaus Ellerhusen Holm, Eira Bjørnstad Foss, and Are Lothe Kolbeinsen), the Montreal-based percussion quartet Architek Percussion, and the London-based violinist Mira Benjamin.
