Lars Eggen is from Tylldalen in Østerdalen. He holds a Master’s degree in performance music from the Department of Music at NTNU and has also studied at the Conservatorio di Musica di Perugia and privately at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. After completing his education, he has worked with most Norwegian opera companies, including Opera Trøndelag, Operaen i Kristiansund, Opera Nordfjord, and TSO, among others.
He has participated in several festivals, such as the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival and the Yo! Opera Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. Eggen is a sought-after seminar leader, conducts choirs, and has taught at NTNU. He has received several awards and grants and is the producer of the mountain farm opera concept, Opera Di Setra. In September 2019, he began serving as the managing director of Opera Trøndelag.
